Officer Calls It Quits

Last Friday my office partner, Jimmy, stopped what he was doing, turned around in his chair to face me and said "Jack.....do you realize that this is the last Friday in your life that you have to work? From now on it's fun, sun and plenty of things to do on your retirement." Well....yeah, except I still have a Tuesday to work and a Wednesday to work and a Thursday to work. Then on next Friday, I turn in my vehicle, my cell phone and my ID card; I get to keep my badge. Someone from the office will pick me up and I am going to be treated to a lunch with the District at Razzio's on Bryant Irvin Rd and then if my wife comes I'll have a ride home. That's it. It's over. Except for a party and dinner I am throwing for some close friends Saturday night at Bonnell's. Then that's it. I am sure there will be times when I miss working with the people in our office; they're great! This is one of the best group of people to work with I've ever known. But for me its no more work, unless you want to call hauling a 33' travel trailer to Fairbanks, Alaska from Fort Worth and back with a detour through Seattle and Salt Lake City work. Nah......that's not work.....that's fun! Anyway, over the next 78 days (beginning Jun 16) we'll find out just how much fun it is. Stay tuned.
